· Parenting

· Making big life decisions e.g., career choice

· ADHD symptoms

· OCD

Our approach

Enhancing Minds aims to build the capacity of people from immigrant or migrant families so that we can live life our way. Whether you want to feel better, feel heard when with others, achieve more, or something else. The service was created to make counselling more user-friendly by combining coaching with psychology, creating a space that’s productive and supportive but not too uncomfortable or unfamiliar.

Whether you have a goal in mind or there are barriers and concerns you’re facing, this combination of coaching and psychology encourages you to take the lead as much as possible. I’ll provide guidance and support as needed, but I want you to have a say in the direction and the ideas that we come up with.

We will be working towards positive and practical changes by honing the way you think. We’ll also work towards having a better understanding of what’s happening for you by reflecting on your upbringing, life experiences, the system around, and/or your cultural and socio-political context. If needed, I will provide another perspective or even challenge you a little.

I will bring my knowledge in human behaviour, emotions and cognition, but I believe in rousing your inherent potential for growth. So, we’ll be tapping into your existing strengths (whether you see them or not), values and beliefs to the concerns that you’re facing and move toward where you want to be.

Growing up in an Asian family with lots of aunties, uncles, and cousins, I believe that we can support each other and build each other’s capacity using the knowledge and skills we’ve gained through life. I hope to provide you with the support that you want.

Pre-consultation session (optional)

One of the hardest decisions is deciding to seek professional support. The second hardest is choosing the right professional. A pre-consultation meeting is a chance for us to meet and see if we’re a good fit. This is a casual meeting rather than coaching or counselling. You can ask any questions about the service, my style or expectations. You’re under no obligation to continue on and I can help refer you on.

$50 per 30 min session (this fee is waived if a session is booked in and completed within a week of this session)

Sessions

$205 per 50 min session

Medicare and insurance

If you have a mental health care plan from your GP, you can be eligible for partial rebates each session. I will lodge the rebate for you and Medicare will deposit it to your bank account linked to Medicare.

Instead of Medicare, you may use your private health insurance to claim your rebate if psychology is covered in your plan. Feel free to check with your health insurance provider to find out if this is the case and the amount you can claim back.

Payment

I accept all major credit cards as forms of payment.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you will be charged for the full rate of the session.
